Getting closer, at least geographically. Today Swedens Mats Rahmn won the $1500 NLHE event. Hungary's Richard Toth was second and the legendary Irishman, at least in his street, Padraig Parkinson was third.
The PLHE was scheduled to be a two day event. However the final nine was only decided at midnight so sensibly everyone voted, myself included, to return tomorrow afternoon. John Gale (Bushey, Herts) carries the flag to the table tomorrow. Iwan Jones (Cardiff) was out in 17th for $9k. John Gale has 134k in chips. Runaway leader is Alex Jacob with 524k.
Alex Jacob (New Haven) is a twentysomething from the Greg Raymer state of CT. He arrived on the radar with a second place in a WPT event at Foxwoods, worth $655k. This is his second final table and third cash of the series. Anything odds against with Stan James would be worth a punt. (Warning: My last winning tip was Max Pescatori 12 days ago.)
Joe Hachem has 64k. Joe hasn't been sighted often in Vegas since his historic victory but has certainly impressed me with his play this series. Joe isn't at all big headed which is amazing given his Aussie background.
One of the booths in the hallway is for a strip club called Sapphire. Today they put up a pole. They chose to blast some music and put on an exhibition during the tournament. Some players complained about the loud music. Devilfish left the tournament to watch the girls.
